Disaster looms for pupils of the Ndesala Primary School in the Krachi Nchumuru district of the Volta region who have to deal with the threat of studying in a dilapidated structure serving as a classroom.

The deep cracks in the walls of the structure pose great danger to the students. The situation which has been brought to the attention of the Krachi Nchumuru district officials has yielded very little results as pupils still have to hold their regular class lessons in the building.

The structure which appears to have been built with mud has visible cracks with some walls almost falling off and yet, pupils sit under the structure to be tutored.

The near-collapse building has been marked as a 'death trap' by the Krachi Nchumuru district.

Several poorly constructed buildings of this sort have collapsed in several instances in the past, causing severe injury to students.

Some kindergarten pupils died in a building collapse in Breman Gyambra in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District of the Central Region earlier this year with several others sustaining life threatening injuries.
